Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, add warm water, half the sugar, sprinkle in the yeast, and top with the remaining sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the salt, butter, and additional warm water.
  3. Slowly mix in 5 cups of flour, mixing on low speed until smooth. Gradually add the remaining flour, Knead on low speed for 10 minutes.
  4. Lightly butter a large bowl. Place dough in the bowl and turn to coat with butter. Cover and let rise in a warm place for an hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down and divide it into three equal pieces. On a floured surface, roll each piece into a rectangular shape. Next, roll each rectangle into a cylinder shape and place them seam side down into a lightly buttered bread pan. Cover the pan and let the dough rise in a warm spot for an hour.
  6. When the loaves have risen, place them in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, covering with foil halfway through baking time to prevent over-browning the tops.
  7. Remove from the oven and brush with more melted. You can also add toppings at this point such as sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or everything bagel topping.
  8. Let cool before slicing.
