Peppermint Mocha

This Peppermint Mocha recipe is a twist on the Starbucks famous beverage. With a bit of Peppermint Schnapps added, it is the adult way to enjoy a gourmet coffee.

Ingredients

3/4 cup whole milk
3 Tbls sugar
1 Tbls unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup brewed strong coffee
1/4 tsp peppermint extract
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 oz Peppermint Schnapps (optional)
whipped cream, chocolate shavings, candy cane for garnish if desired

Instructions

In a small saucepan, combine milk, cocoa, and sugar. Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves and small bubbles form around the edges.
Stir in the coffee, peppermint, and vanilla extracts, and remove the mixture from the heat.
Pour into a large mug and stir in the Peppermint Schnapps. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings if desired. Place candy cane in the mug and serve hot.
