Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Start by whisking together flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer. Separately, whisk together melted butter, warm milk, vanilla extract, and an egg in a large bowl. Pour this mixture into the flour mixture.
  2. Next, attach the dough hook to the stand mixer and mix on low speed until the flour is moistened. Then increase the speed to medium and continue to knead until the dough becomes smooth and elastic, which should take approximately 5-6 minutes.
  3. Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover, and allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1-2 hours).
  4. Punch down the dough, turn it out onto a floured surface, and divide it into two equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rectangle that is about 1/3 inch thick. Brush melted butter on each rectangle.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the two rectangles. Roll each firmly into a log, pinch the ends closed, and tuck them underneath. Place each log into a greased loaf pan, cover, and allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 45-60 minutes).
  6. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Brush tops of the loaves with more melted butter, then sprinkle tops with the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  7. Bake in preheated oven until loaves are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped (about 30 minutes).
