- In the bowl of your stand mixer, dissolve the sugar and yeast in the warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until the top becomes foamy.
- To the bowl, add flour, salt, and softened butter. Using the paddle attachment, mix until well combined.
- Change to the dough hook and knead for about 8 minutes until the dough forms a ball and is no longer sticky.
- Cover the bowl with a dishtowel or plastic wrap and let sit for 1 1/2 hours until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has doubled, punch down and measure 2 oz portions of dough and roll each into sticks about 7 inches long.
- Place the dough sticks onto baking sheets, cover, and let sit for 1 hour until doubled in size again.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Bake the breadsticks for 10 minutes or until just lightly brown.
- Combine the melted butter and garlic salt, and just after the breadsticks come out of the oven, brush them with the butter mixture using a pastry brush.
