  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9 x 13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl or in the bowl of your stand mixer, combine pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, eggs, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and cover it completely with yellow cake mix.
  4. Spread the chopped pecans evenly over the cake mix layer and gently pat down, then drizzle it with melted butter.
  5. Bake for 65-80 minutes or until done. Allow the cake to stand 5-10 minutes before serving.
